My name is Angelo Baiocchi, I was born in Pavia, Italy on the 11th december 1965.
The first memory I can recall is of moving a brush over a canvas, smearing colors and feeling the smell of oil in the colors. My mother had to help me write my name because I was only three years old. But I sure knew what I was painting. I remember telling my mother: „this is a underwater scene“. Where I had that from – at three – is another story. I have always had a big passion for comics, at first Disney and some local Italian produced ones (Tiramolla, Geppo, Jacovitti) and I was copying them whenever possible. Still at a very young age I was introduced by my uncle in Rome to a poster taken from a Jack Kirby illustration.
That blew my mind! The characters were so alive and so different from what I had ever seen before! Right after „meeting“ the Fantastic Four I started reading another comic book: Spiderman. The action packed pages drawn by Steve Ditko at that time were a continuous source of inspiration. It was obvious that I was loving those characters, mostly I would take small figures from the books and blow them up, in full color (using felt pens) on poster sized paper which would then hang from the walls of my room. My favourite artists at that time were surely John Romita Sr. and Big John Buscema (with whom I have the honour to share my birthday date!)
This was the beginning of my passion for comics and drawing, illustration, painting etc.
I will publish my newest works and some old or unfinished ones on this page, hoping you will enjoy them.
Thank you for your attention,
